Swinging into summer at the BellchambersBarrett Open

You’ve heard of the Australian Open and Wimbledon. But there’s a new slam in town: the BellchambersBarrett Open.

While not as competitive as the major international slams, the BB Open – as it is affectionately known – was every bit as thrilling.

Good times – and great hits

There’s no better way to spend the Australian summer than at the beach – or the tennis court. And while we’d love to spend every summer afternoon by the sea, that can be a little difficult here in Canberra.

So, the ever-enthusiastic BellchambersBarrett Social Club opted for the next best thing: a social tennis tournament.

Unlike most major slams, this tournament was less about rivalries and superstition – and more about fostering connections, inclusivity and camaraderie.

A court for every player

In typical BellchambersBarret social style, the BB Open had room for players of every skill level. From budding Novaks to complete newbies, our diverse team stepped onto the courts with a shared desire – to have fun!

Over one evening – on Friday the 13th, no less – friendly competition saw colleagues go neck and neck in the battle for the top prize. The result? A series of thrilling games where the physical challenge was matched only by the joy of light-hearted social encounters.

More than a game

Of course, the BB Open was not just about tennis. The event was a stellar opportunity for the BellchambersBarrett community to come together – away from the office – give their all, and have a laugh with their workmates.

And those who preferred to watch from the sidelines? The promise of pizza, drinks and vibrant conversations ensured everyone had a stellar day.

Fashion aces

While the BB Open had many highlights, Faith Morris and Jamie Glenn clinching the best-dressed title stands out as an unforgettable moment.

Their outfits echoed the event’s theme with panache – and gave everybody on the team some style inspiration.

Their playful nod to tennis fashion underscored the event’s ethos: participation and enthusiasm trump traditional victory.

So, as we pack away the rackets and fold down the nets, we’re already looking forward to next year’s serve – knowing the BB Open isn’t just an event; it’s a new staple in our social calendar.
